How to Repair a ProForm CT1160

The ProForm CT1160 is a residential, fold-away treadmill. It offers speeds up to 10 mph and an automatic incline up to 10 percent. This treadmill has a pre-lubricated, cushioned walking belt. The console includes four preset workout programs and Ifit.com interactive technology. Some minor repairs on the CT1160 you can do yourself, including problems with the power and the walking belt. However, you may need to contact ProForm for issues involving the electronic motor board or drive belt.

  1. Power Turns Off During Use

    • 1

      Locate the circuit breaker on the front of the machine next to the power cord. If the button protrudes, the breaker has tripped. Wait five minutes and then press the button back in.

      Unplug the power cord. Wait five minutes and then plug it back in.

      Remove the magnetic safety key from the console. Wait 30 seconds and then reinsert it.

    Walking Belt Slows

      Unolug the power cord from the wall.

      Find the rear roller bolts located in the end of the walking deck. The bolts are recessed in the end caps.

      Turn both bolts one-quarter turn to the left.

      Lift the edge of the walking belt in the middle of the deck. It should lift 3 to 4 inches off the platform. If it does not, repeat Step 3 until it does.

    Console Does Not Display Correctly

      Remove the safety key from the console. Unplug the treadmill.

      Remove the screw that holds the front motor hood in place. Pull the hood off the machine.

      Locate the reed switch near the left pulley. The reed switch is a small rectangular part that sits across from the pulley.

      Turn the pulley by hand until a small magnet aligns with the reed switch.

      Measure the gap between the reed switch and the magnet. If the gap is not 1/8 inch, loosen the screw above the reed switch. Move the reed switch so the gap is 1/8 inch. Re-tighten the reed switch screw.

      Replace the motor hood cover.
