How to Assume a Ready Stance in Tae Kwon Do

The ready stance is the position you take at the start of your workout, before beginning a form. The Korean term for ready is chunbee, so this is sometimes called the chunbee stance.

      Face forward with your feet about shoulder-width apart.

      Keep your back straight and your head erect.

      Bend your knees slightly.

      Make your hands into fists and bend your arms about 45 degrees. Hold your fists inward at waist level.

      Hold your arms slightly away from your body and look directly ahead at nothing in particular.
