Directions for a High Sierra Hydration Pack
Things You'll Need
- Hydration pack
- Water
- Backpack
- Foam paintbrush
- Narrow wire
- Dish soap
- Paper towels
- Teaspoon baking soda (optional)
- Drop of sodium bicarbonate (optional)

Take off the cap of the hydration pack. Place a small amount of dish soap or sodium bicarbonate into the bladder. Fill the pouch three-quarters full with hot water. Place the cap back on.

Shake the water-filled bladder for a minute. Take the cap off and drain the water. Do not rinse.

Use the foam paintbrush to clean the crevices inside of the bladder with the remaining soap and water residue.

Remove the plastic tube from the bladder. Remove the bite valve from the tube. Wrap a damp paper towel around the wire.

Push the towel-wrapped wire through the hydration tube. Repeat two to three times for best results.

Attach the bite valve to the hydration hose. Attach the hose to the bladder. Fill the pouch three-quarters full with very hot water. Shake the bladder. Drain the bladder.

If the hydration pack is still dirty, fill with water and one teaspoon of baking soda. Let the pack sit over night. Repeat step 6.
