How to Use a CamelBak HotShot

Hiking, fighting forest fires and other outdoor activities deplete the body of fluids. In wild areas, water sources may be scarce and hard to find. You need to carry fluids with you to avoid dehydration. Canteens and water bottles slow you down because you have to stop, take them out of your pack to drink, and pack them away when you're done. The CamelBak Hotshot is an effective option for people in need of a hydration system. The minimal design makes it easy to carry and use.

Instructions

    • 1

Twist the reservoir cap counterclockwise to unscrew it. Remove the cap and set it aside with the grip side down to avoid getting dirt in the reservoir.

    • 2

Fill the reservoir with water or sports drinks. Screw the cap back on after the reservoir is full.

    • 3

Attach the CamelBak to your pack. D-rings on the sides of the Hotshot allow you to lash it to the outside of a pack or secure it with Velcro. You can place the Hotshot in your pack and run the drinking tube out of the pack closure.

    • 4

Drape the drinking tube over your shoulder after putting on your pack.

    • 5

Remove the cover from the end of the drinking tube. Open the valve below the mouthpiece, a simple switch that can be turned with your thumb.

    • 6

Place the end of the tube in your mouth and gently bite down to open the end of the tube and drink.
