Directions to Put Up a Canopy Tent

Canopy tents are made to go up quick and efficiently. Canopy tents are used for parties, backyard functions, sun and rain shelters or as a kitchen tent on camping trips. Set up your canopy tent using a basic formula. While every canopy tent maker uses its own system of poles and attachments, canopy tents follow the same basic formula for setup.

Instructions

    • 1

Clear the ground where you want to set up the canopy tent. Pull the tent out of any storage sack.

    • 2

Pull out on one side of the tent to open the roof and extend the poles. Pull down on the poles to telescope and lock them into position. Look for metal knobs that stick out of holes, indicating the tent poles are locked into position. Some poles use lock dials to secure the poles. Turn the dials until the poles are locked into position.

    • 3

Set the canopy tent on the ground so the roof is up.

    • 4

Pull any guy-lines down from the sides or corner of the tent and stake the cords into the ground. Position the lines so they radiate out from the corners and the lines are not in an area where people trip on them. Use a mallet or rock to pound the stakes into the ground and tie the line to the stakes.
