How to Change the Battery in a Casio 1170

The Casio 1170, a sport watch, features a chronometer, compass and back-lit screen. There are settings for different time zones, a count-down timer and an altimeter indicating elevation gain and loss. The device is powered by a CR399 sized battery. You will eventually need to replace the battery, which requires you to open the back of the watch with a small screwdriver to remove the old battery.

      Turn the Casio 1170 over. Unscrew the small screws holding the battery panel in place. Do not remove the screws; loosen them so the panel comes out, but make sure the screws remain in the panel housings.

      Turn the watch over to allow the old battery to drop out. Place the new battery into the housing, taking care to keep the new battery in the same position as the old one. If the process is too small for your fingers, set the new battery in place using tweezers.

      Place the panel back onto the watch and tighten the panel screws back into position.

      Follow the watch manual to re-set the functions on the watch after you replace the battery.
