1
Pump the front and back tires until the pump provides a great deal of resistance when it is pushed down.
-
2
Test the breaks. Pull each break lever to ensure that the breaks grip the wheel around the metal rim when the lever is pulled.
-
3
To mount the bike, put one pedal at a 45-degree angle up from the horizon. Place a foot on that pedal. Swing the other foot over the bike and place it on the ground near the down pedal.
-
4
Kick off with the foot on the ground and start pedaling with both feet.
-
5
Adjust gears. If pedaling is too easy and your speed is too low, use the right gear shift to select a higher number. If it is too difficult to pedal, use the right gear shift to select a lower number. Continue to pedal until the chain grips the proper gear.
-
6
When you ascend a hill, use the left gear shift to select a lower number. Continue to pedal until the chain grips the proper gear. Shift to higher numbers to descend hills or to ride on flat terrain. Use the brake levers to slow speed or stop when necessary.

7
If you want to ride on rough terrain, be aware that the Schwinn Skyliner Comfort Bike is not intended for extremely rough terrain. The tires will pop if they drop from an altitude that is too high. The bike is capable of handling gravel, dirt and bumpy paths. For some riders, it is preferable to stand over the pedals rather than sitting on the saddle when the path gets rough.
