Reebok X Pulse Glove Specs

Reebok (RBK) X-Pulse gloves are worn by hockey goalies. The goalie wears two different gloves: a catch glove and a blocker glove. The former has a net and is designed to catch the puck, much like a baseball mitt. The latter is a rectangle piece of padding that covers a majority of the player's hand and wrist of the goalie's stick hand. The Reebok X-Pulse line features only goalie equipment.
  1. Materials

    • The Reebok X-Pulse glove exterior is synthetic leather, meaning it has to be broken in to reach its full flexibility. This is standard for many types of gloves. The net, also called the T-pocket, on the catcher glove is made from a sturdy synthetic twine knotted together and attached to the pre-curved, reinforced perimeter of the T-pocket. The interior is a micro synthetic material and, in the blocker glove, not only helps wick sweat away, but is thin enough to allow the goalie to have a firm grip on his stick.

    Wrist Support

    • Wrist support and adjustments are a vital component in the goalie glove. The Reebok X-Pulse gloves have a two-way wrist attachment that lets you set the wrist support to the right size and place. Having a properly supported wrist ensures optimal range of motion and safety when playing. If the wrist support comes up too high on the catcher glove, it might affect your ability to catch the puck.

    Hand Curve

    • The Reebok X-Pulse gloves are naturally curved in the thumb and palm region to grant you more control over the puck. The molded thumb design increases the comfort and amount of maneuverability in the hand while preventing the thumb from bending backwards. The curved palm creates an open catching surface that allows you to grip the puck at the most crucial times in the game. Your hand should not be pinched or squished when inside the glove.

    Cost

    • The Reebok X-Pulse gloves increase in price as the model number and quality increase, with the 6.0 model being the cheapest and the Pro model being the most expensive. As of July 2011, the X-Pulse 6.0 goalie glove ranged from $150 to $200. The Reebok X-Pulse Pro glove costs about $400 to $500. The 7.0 and 10.0 model prices are in between the 6.0 and Pro models.
