How to Figure Out if You're Goofy Footed at Snowboarding

Footedness, which is the same concept of handedness, just applied to your feet, is what determines what foot you put forward on various kinds of sporting equipment, including a snowboard. If you put your right foot forward, then your stance is considered "goofy," while going down the mountain with your left foot forward is called "regular." There are several different ways to determine what foot you will most naturally lead with, and whether you are goofy or regular footed.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine what foot you put forward in any other sport where a board is used. Other common board sports include wakeboarding, skateboarding and surfing.

    • 2

Ask a friend to push you gently from behind. The foot that you put forward first is the foot that you will most likely put forward on the snowboard.

    • 3

Imagine kicking a soccer ball. The foot that you would feel most comfortable kicking with is the foot that you are most likely to put forward on the snowboard.

    • 4

Imagine running and sliding across a slippery floor. The foot that you would put forward while sliding is the foot you are most likely to put forward when riding a snowboard.

    • 5

Imagine writing your name in the sand with your foot while standing. The foot that you do the writing with is the foot you are most likely to put forward while riding a snowboard.
