How to Customize Goalkeeper Uniforms
Instructions

1
Select a jersey color different from the jerseys of teammates. Bright colors are usually worn to better differentiate the goalkeeper from other players, since he's the only player allowed to use his hands, and the referee.
-
2
Select a long or short sleeve jersey. Many goalkeepers prefer long sleeves for protection and warmth, but short sleeves keep the body cooler during warm weather.
-
3
Select shorts or pants. Shorts are cooler and allow more freedom of movement compared to keeper pants. Goalkeeper pants are designed for cool weather and have reinforced protection for the hips and knees.
-
4
Select gloves depending on playing conditions, palm thickness and finger spines. Gloves are made for many conditions such as hard ground and wet or dry weather. Quality gloves have three to four millimeters of latex foam padding on the palm and fingers for protection and handling. Quality goalkeeper gloves for match play have plastic finger spines that protect against overextension or dislocation of the fingers when deflecting or catching a ball.

5
Select footwear depending on playing surface and footwear material. Soft ground cleats have the largest studs. Firm ground cleats have medium studs or blades. Hard ground and turf shoes have short rubber studs, and indoor shoes have a flat rubber sole. Leather footwear is sometimes preferred over synthetic materials, because leather is more durable and better protects the goalkeeper's feet.

6
Select protective gear based on personal preferences. Some goalkeepers claim protective gear limits movement, while others prefer it for aggressive play. Goalkeeper shorts and base layer shorts have padding on the hips and tailbone. Protective undershirts have light padding on the shoulders, elbows and spine. Headgear is also available to keepers who have sustained head injuries, or are concerned over head protection.
