How to Use a Knee Board

Knee boarding is a water sport that is an alternative to sports like water skiing and wake boarding. While it takes practice to become proficient at knee boarding, most people can pick it up after a little practice. People can knee board on lakes and rivers, though the best areas to do it have calm water. Trying to knee board in heavy waves may hurt your knees.

Instructions

    • 1

Jump into the water with the knee board. The pointed end should face the boat, to which the rope is attached.

    • 2

Place the knee board so it is underneath your torso. Your arms should hang over the front of the knee board.

    • 3

Grab the handle of the ski rope with both hands. Your knuckles should face upward.

    • 4

Hold the rope tightly and tell the boat driver to drive forward. When the rope is tight, have the driver speed up to about 20 miles per hour.

    • 5

Wait until the board rides on top of the water. Pull yourself onto the knee board and kneel on it. The front of your knees should be just behind the center point of the board. Straighten your back and lean backward.

    • 6

Hold the rope with one hand and use your other hand to pull the strap over your knees and tighten it.
