How to Hit Snowboard Boxes

Knowing how to ollie is an important part of snowboarding that eventually allows you to jump off of snowboard boxes. Every jump starts with a basic ollie. An ollie is like bunny hop on a bike but instead of using your rear bike tire to pop yourself into the air, you use your rear foot. This simple trick takes some getting used to, but the end result is an ability to land tricks off of moguls and rail boxes.

Instructions

    • 1

Build up enough speed while on the snowboard to make sure your momentum takes you right down the box.

    • 2

Take a direct route to the rail box with your dominant foot in the back. The dominant foot will spring the board off the snow and in the air.

    • 3

Shift your weight to the dominant foot in the back and push off into the air. Land the board directly onto the rail box.

    • 4

Keep your weight on the dominant foot while on the rail box. Lean forward slightly when dismounting the box.
