Husker Shirt Ideas

If you are a University of Nebraska, Lincoln fan then you are well aware that you need to be decked out in the Big Red's finest during those tailgate parties or at-home College Bowl games. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are loyal and proud fans and take their attire very seriously. You can always dress in the traditional red and white, but here are some examples of how to make your UNL shirt stand out in the crowd.
  1. Cornhuskers Sweatshirt

    • If you are watching the game at the stadium, chances are you will be braving the cold Nebraska fall weather. You can purchase a sweatshirt from their pro-shop online or you can make your own. Using white puff-paint on a red sweatshirt, you can draw a simple bold "N" logo then write the last name and number of your favorite player on the back.

    Patches and Iron-On Transfers

    • For a quick way to spruce up an existing red or white shirt, add a Cornhuskers patch or iron on transfer. Patches are much less expensive than purchasing a shirt. You can find patches at the UNL bookstore or online.

    Dress like Herbie

    • Herbie Husker is the iconic mascot of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. While his look has changed over the years, he is usually in a red polo shirt with a large white "N" emblazoned on the chest. To complete the look, add a red cowboy hat, overalls and an ear of corn in your pocket.

    Support the Blackshirts

    • Support Nebraska's defensive unit with a black shirt.

At most games, you will be surrounded with a sea of red and white, so try wearing black. The Blackshirts are the team's defensive unit. They use black pullovers to distinguish themselves from the team's offensive unit. Blackshirt memorabilia is available at the games and online, but you can create your own with a plain black jersey, T-shirt or sweatshirt and red iron-on transfers.
